O'Rourke Gives Strong Support to FMSP Connectivity Proposal

In a letter to a TxDOT official, Congressman Beto O'Rourke supports the most recent entrance proposal because it offers safety and connectivity. He applauds TxDOT for working with "the community, environmental groups, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department".

  2. I am glad to see the plans at last incorporating access for wildlife and for bicylists. Where the pedestrians will come from or leave to is far less clear. Will they walk up from the Resler intersection? If visitors exit the park on foot, exactly where will they go??

Time will tell if it is in fact safe to turn left across oncoming traffic once the volume of traffic increases on the expanded Transmountain/Loop 375. The only traffic signal that would stop this trafffic is on the other side of the mountain. We must all hope that the TXDOT assessment of traffic coming in "clumps" or "packs" is correct and access to the park will not be adversely affected by this design. Virtually all tourist traffic would be coming east from I-10 (a key factor in building ecotourism here is our mountain and access to it - sadly, the river is no longer there 12/12.
